Role Overview:

M/LK Education Search is currently working with a brand new Independent Special Schools organisation that have just been shortlisted for the TES Inclusive School of the Year Award and are wishing to appoint an inspirational Headteacher to open their second of over 100 new sites.

The small, independent school is an inclusive educational provision for children with a passion for sport to achieve physically, vocationally, and academically.

With capacity for 20 children, this is a unique and very specialised environment that requires a hands on, personable leader who supports and promotes an inclusive culture, enabling all children to achieve their best, overcoming barriers to learning and participation.

The Head of School holds a very important strategic role in coordinating appropriate provision for children with special educational needs and liaising with colleagues, parents/carers and outside agencies.

Purpose of the role:

• Promote the values and vision of the school , developing a culture of high expectations and personal responsibility.

• Support the consistent implementation of school policies, approaches and expectations.

• Promote high standards of behaviour, discipline and personal appearance amongst pupils and/students for whom responsibility is held.

• To provide professional leadership for the school which secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education which inspires and motivates it pupils and improves standards of learning and achievement.

• To work with and through others to secure the commitment of the wider community to the school.

• To be responsible for the leadership, internal organisation, management and control of the school, consulting appropriately with the Directors.

• To create a safe and caring environment for all pupils and staff and to promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils and staff

• To develop and maintain a culture of cross school working between the schools in the organisation

Additional Information:

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading an independent school, a passion for special needs provision and be able to demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Highly desirable would be a background in or passion for sport.
