Let’s break down the episodes…

 

Jon Tait – Educational Leader, Author, Podcast Host, and Deputy CEO:

Jon is Deputy CEO and Director of School Improvement at a multi-academy trust comprising of three large secondary schools and sixth form colleges in North Yorkshire. Prior to this role, Jon had worked in three different and diverse North East schools for 20 years, with 15 of those as a school leader in various senior leadership positions.

Most recently as Deputy Headteacher and Director of Teaching School, Jon was responsible for the strategic leadership of teaching and learning, professional development, initial teacher training and external school-to-school support. Jon has significant experience in contributing to system leadership via his extensive professional network of education professionals around the world. Listen to Jon Tait’s podcast episode below:

Stephen Tierney – Former Headteacher & Executive Headteacher, Educational Consultant and Author:

Stephen is the former CEO of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi-Academy Trust in Blackpool and was also chair of the headteachers roundtable group from 2014 to 2021. Originally a science teacher, Stephen became executive head across St Mary’s Catholic College and Christ the King Catholic Primary in 2013, forming the basis of what would become the Blessed Edward Bamber Trust.

Since leaving his post as CEO in 2019, Stephen now engages with schools and school leaders as a speaker, author and tutor on the National College of Education Senior Leaders Masters Programmes.

Matt Turton – Principal at Bluecoat Aspley Academy:

Matt is the new principal of Bluecoat Aspley Academy in Nottingham, part of the Archway Learning Trust, after recently moving on from his role as Director of Performance and Standards at the St Therese of Lisieux Catholic MAT and as interim head of St Peter and St Paul Catholic Academy in Lincoln.

Prior to this, Matt was Director of Teaching School, working across three of the Catholic MATs within the Diocese of Nottingham to support Initial Teacher Training (ITT), CPD and school improvement work. In this role, Matt also took responsibility for the Diocesan Leadership Academy, an accelerated leadership programme across all four of the CMATs.

Dr Simon Hughes – Former Director of Education & Diocesan Schools Commissioner at Archdiocese of Southwark:

Simon is the former Director of Education at the Archdiocese of Southwark, which has over 150 schools across South London and Kent. He now provides consultancy pieces on school inspection (section 48), MAT trust board reviews, some freelance writing and working on some school review projects.

Steve Hill – Deputy Headteacher at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary school in Greater Manchester:

Steve is currently the deputy head of St Joseph’s Catholic primary school in Shaw, Greater Manchester, but is first and foremost a teacher, albeit a teacher with a difference. Steve has taken on various challenges, raising over £100,000 for good causes as he pushes the boundaries to help inspire others.

Steve is also the founder of Team Hill Charitable Trust and is an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. He has been awarded an MBE for services to Education and Charity – along with multiple other awards including a National Teaching Award, Inspirational Teacher of the Year, National Happiest School Person, and Adventurer of the Year amongst many others.
